Visual art was something I was always interested in when I was growing up in the 1980s. I had several art teachers who expected that I would go on to study visual art in college. When I went to school for music instead, I stopped painting and creating things that I thought were interesting to look at, but during the pandemic I found some steel plates and began making small sculptures. This act of creation inspired me to create more visual pieces and even pick up the brush again, and some of these pieces have in turn become inspirations for other artists’ work as well.
